Apollo Tires – North America Go-To-Market Launch

Challenge / Goal

Launching a new product in a well-established, competitive market is a challenge—and when that market is the commercial trucking industry in North America, the stakes are even higher. Apollo Tires had already earned its stripes across Asia and Europe, but breaking into the U.S. meant standing out in a crowd of long-trusted tire brands with decades of loyalty and recognition.

The goal? Create a bold, distinctive go-to-market campaign that positioned Apollo as a serious contender—without pretending to be something it’s not. They needed a smart message that spoke to fleet owners, independent drivers, and logistics decision-makers alike, all while highlighting the brand’s high-performance tire offering at a lower price point.

Solution

Apollo Tires deliver the performance, durability, and reliability you expect from top-tier brands—without the top-tier price tag. Our core insight? The real competition isn’t other tires—it’s the roads themselves. From crater-sized potholes to relentless downpours and crumbling infrastructure, drivers across North America face a daily gauntlet. Apollo Tires are engineered to take it all in stride, which led to the campaign: “Smart Tires for Not-Smart Roads.” A bold, self-aware platform that cuts through industry clutter and speaks directly to the people who live behind the wheel—fleet owners and drivers who’ve seen the worst the road has to offer.

The Visual Approach

We didn’t just say the roads were tough—we showed it. The creative leaned into high-drama, cinematic storytelling that brought the chaos of North American roads to life. Extreme close-ups of cracked asphalt, cavernous potholes, and rain-slicked surfaces made the conditions feel visceral and unpredictable. Slow-motion shots of raindrops hammering the pavement added a sense of relentless adversity, while low-angle tire shots plowing through rugged terrain built tension and suspense. Then, Apollo Tires entered the frame—stable, unshaken, and in control. In this gritty landscape, the Apollo brand emerged as the hero, built to withstand whatever the road throws its way

Execution

This idea was brought to life across multiple channels, each tailored to the needs of Apollo’s key audiences:

  • A hero TV spot that dramatized just how “stupid” American roads can be—and how Apollo’s tires take it all in stride
  • High-impact trade show content including booth graphics and digital installations that made Apollo stand out from a sea of sameness
  • Targeted digital ads designed to quickly communicate value in fleet and logistics trade environments
  • Sales enablement materials that helped reps reinforce Apollo’s message in one-on-one customer interactions

Each execution struck a tone that was self-aware, confident, and highly memorable—setting Apollo apart from the hyper-technical, spec-heavy messaging that dominates the industry.

My Role

As the account lead, I helped drive the go-to-market strategy and day-to-day coordination of the campaign rollout across teams and touch points. My responsibilities included:

  • Collaborating with strategy and creative teams to shape the campaign concept and ensure it aligned with business goals
  • Leading weekly client communications, feedback reviews, and campaign approvals
  • Managing timelines and cross-functional production needs from TV to digital to print
  • Ensuring trade show deliverables and experiential assets were designed, produced, and shipped on time and on brand
  • Partnering with media and analytics teams to monitor early performance and optimize placements across channels

The Impact

Apollo’s U.S. launch wasn’t just noticed—it was remembered. The “Smart Tires for Not-Smart Roads” campaign stood out in an oversaturated space by speaking the audience’s language, capturing their frustrations, and offering a real solution. By leaning into its value proposition and embracing a confident, clever tone, Apollo successfully carved out a voice in a crowded category—earning interest, generating leads, and laying the groundwork for long-term brand recognition in North America.
